Women's Biking Vests Information
Have you ever stuck your nose out the door and been completely baffled about the weather? Is it a jacket day or a jersey day? Women’s cycling vests are the perfect solution to confounding atmospheric conditions. The beauty of a wind vest is that it shields your core, traps a little warmth, but allows your arms and pits to breathe so you don’t overheat. Wind vests that are constructed of thermal fabric with a fuzzy interior are the warmest option, and are usually worn on cool spring or fall days. Lightweight wind vests without the thermal layer are extremely packable, and can be worn out the door or stowed in a jersey pocket in case the winds pick up. Some vests are extremely compact -- Castelli vests fold up to about the size of an energy bar! Cycling vests often feature mesh panels on the back for ventilation. They have full length zippers, tall collars, reflective accents, and some even feature rear pockets.
Women’s vests have a women’s specific fit that differs from the cut of men’s cycling vests. They are typically narrower in the shoulders and roomier in the chest and hips. The arm holes are smaller, which reduces noisy flapping and increases warmth. For a smoother fit over the hips, the bottom hem does not have an elastic gripper. This also prevents the biking vest from riding up on your waist.
