Good rain vest for warmer days Review by Chris

(Posted on 4/26/12)

Quality

I bought this vest with the idea that I would use for rainy rides in warmer weather (60F +), as using a full rain jacket seemed excessive for those conditions

I've had the "opportunity" to use twice now, with one of them being a heavy downpour and I can say that the vest performs really well. My core was warm the entire time and I did not feel any cold rain seeping in. At the end, I did end up with a wet jersey, but that's due in part to the fact that this vent has no back ventilation mesh panels or anything like that (it wouldn't be a RAIN vest if it had mesh panels) and after 2.5 hrs of riding, it's hard to tell what's sweat and what is rain

The vest has a small-ish, zipped back pocket with a rain flap that also doubles as the vest's packing bag. Size is true to chart. I'm 180 lbs, 5'9.5" and the medium fits well. Also, the front zipper is a two-way zipper, meaning you can unzip either by pulling up or down, which works great when you have the vest on and need some ventilation without having to unzip the whole thing down

Overall, it's a very good rain vest. It won't keep you totatlly dry but it will provide enough protection that will allow you to ride in the rain (relatively) comfortably during spring and summer
