These socks are decent winter socks, the only reason I rate them 3 stars is in comparison to the excellent Castelli Quindici. Otherwise I might give them 4 stars.
Pros: Tall cuff gives nice coverage with tights. Almost as thin as summer socks so no sizing issues with tight shoes. Decent warmth, not as much as the Quindici, but expect an extra 4-8deg of warmth over summer socks in you sock/shoe/bootie combo.
Cons: Not a ton of extra warmth, like I said expect 4-8deg of extra warmth. When my feet start sweating they do get a little itchy - this may be due to the Merino blend, as opposed to the Quindici which are 100% Merino.
An OK sock for the value, not quite as nice or warm as the Quindici. I use these on days where I need a few extra degrees of warmth but not so cold that I need the Quindici. These are in-betweeners for me.
