Louis Garneau Clothing Information
Like other brilliant ideas of the 80’s, the Louis Garneau cycling apparel brand began in a garage. In Louis Garneau’s father’s garage, to be exact. Louis himself is a cyclist and a former Canadian National Champion. From his vast experience before and after competitive racing, Louis knows exactly what cyclists need and want from their clothing. In 1983, he and his wife began their business, which grew from being a local distributor to the worldwide distributor of road biking apparel and mountain bike clothing it is today. Louis Garneau makes high quality and reasonably-priced cycling clothing and accessories for all levels of athletes.
Serious roadies, waterfront bike path riders, and even trail shredders will all be able to find a Louis Garneau cycling jersey for their purposes. All tops use moisture-wicking, quick-drying fabrics, and most feature two or three rear pockets and a front zipper. As the key sponsor of several pro cycling teams, the brand offers race-ready jerseys that have an elite second-skin cut and bold, racy designs. The performance cut offers a slightly more generous fit. Biking jerseys with the recreational fit are semi-relaxed and provide the most room. For trail or urban riding, a t-shirt style top is comfortable and casual, but still features the same sweat-wicking fabrics as a conventional jersey. Loose-fitting mountain biking jerseys have enough room to wear padding underneath, and feature longer sleeves to protect arms from inevitable trail crashes.
Louis Garneau cycling shorts and bibs have a compressive fit that supports muscles to delay fatigue. They feature the brand's trademark gripper-less leg bands, which hug the quads without pinching. The seamless chamois inserts found in the bottoms contour to the rider’s shape and provide just the right amount of padding. Garneau mountain biking shorts have an internal liner with a chamois, and an external loose-fitting short that looks more casual. For cold weather riding, knickers, tights, and bib tights are available with and without a chamois. The Louis Garneau women’s cycling apparel line includes skirts that have a padded inner liner.
For inclement weather, check out a Louis Garneau winter cycling jacket or an environmentally friendly clear plastic rain jacket. The most form-fitting jackets are intended for wearing over cycling clothing, while the more relaxed fit is a better option for bike commuting apparel because it can be worn over street clothes. Cycling rain pants that can be pulled over normal clothes are also available. Accessories that keep the extremities warm and dry, such as Louis Garneau cycling gloves, shoe covers, caps, socks, and warmers, are necessary for riding in cool, cold, or rainy conditions.
With styles ranging from the flashy and skin-tight pro-look, to high-vis reflective bike vests and baggy biking shorts, Louis Garneau cycling clothing is top quality without a lot of hype. Yes, Louis was a pro -- he even went to the Olympics -- but his brand extends to everyone who loves to experience the world on two wheels.
