Indie Bike is a for-profit organization, but that doesn’t mean money is the only driving force behind the business. We’re all bikers that want to see the popularity of biking spread; whether it is commuting to work, taking a leisurely ride on a Sunday afternoon, competing in road or mountain races, or using it as a source of exercise. As a way to promote the popularity of cycling, Indie Bike will donate a portion of the business’ profits to Rails-to-Trails Conservancy for bettering the cycling community.
The Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (www.railtrails.org) is a non-profit organization that is turning unused railroads and corridors into public bike trails. The goal of the organization is to create a nation-wide network of trails to enhance the health of America’s environment, economy, neighborhoods and people. Currently, there are 13,600 miles of trails that have been created, and the number of miles increases every year.
